Served as special counsel to the receiver in a $60 million EB-5 fraud investment scheme lawsuit filed by an investor plaintiff in an investment vehicle called Florida Immigration Building Funding, Inc. in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The matter involved a developer misusing investments made to fund the redevelopment of a former US immigration building by using the monies to purchase other properties, move funds offshore, and support other unauthorized purposes. To help recoup monies for the investors, we filed an ancillary lawsuit against the developer and related parties that led to a settlement through which we obtained the transfer of two properties to the receiver’s control. These properties were then sold for $90 million, which will be used for the benefit of the investors.
