Karen Eisen is McCarter & English’s Director of Strategic Growth leading the lateral partner recruiting efforts to complement the firm’s existing practice base and expand the firm’s geographic reach. Karen directs the talent identification and recruitment of senior lawyers through various channels and is the primary liaison with external recruiting and placement firms. Karen also shares responsibilities for the onboarding and integration efforts of new lateral partners.
Karen’s professional background has spanned higher education, private law firms and government service. Directly before joining McCarter, Karen was the Dean of Career and Professional Development at Brooklyn Law School where she managed the career planning function for law students, new graduates and alumni. She remains a member of the law school’s adjunct faculty. Prior to her career in academia, Karen held leading recruiting and professional development roles in private practice at New York and New Jersey firms. Karen started her career as an assistant district attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s office.
Karen is active in her community and is a member of the Glen Ridge Police Department’s Domestic Violence Response Team. She served on the borough’s Board of Education for twelve years during which time she held the position of Vice President. Since 2015, she has also been the chair of the Borough of Glen Ridge’s Juvenile Conference Committee for the Essex County Courts.
