Lauren Kobayashi focuses her practice on energy litigation, transactional, and regulatory matters. She assists clients in multiple industries, including large industrial consumers, power marketers, and financial institutions.
Lauren’s experience includes working as a law clerk for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in the Office of Administrative Litigation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Hawaii, and the firm’s energy practice. At FERC, she observed and assisted on a variety of energy proceedings and drafted memos on various energy matters to support FERC trial staff while keeping abreast of changes in law and procedures. After FERC, Lauren started working for the firm’s energy practice in December 2023 and has since assisted in a variety of energy transactions, regulatory matters, and litigation.
Lauren graduated from Vermont Law and Graduate School, where she received her JD and was a research assistant and energy clinician at the Institute for Energy and the Environment. At the Institute, she worked on an electrification in agriculture guide, researched the implementation of solar development on conservation easement land, and created an electric vehicle guide for consumers to learn about federal and state tax incentives. Lauren also represented her school at the 2023 National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition at West Virginia University’s College of Law, where her team made it to the advanced round of sixteen.
