Arnold & Porter LLP and McCarter & English LLP should be awarded defense attorneys’ fees for their recent victory in a million-dollar contract suit over the firing of a Silicon Valley CEO after his company was acquired, a California judge said this week.
San Mateo Superior Court Judge Richard DuBois ruled that plaintiff Lorenzo Salhi had needlessly pursued an alleged labor code violation even after he knew it was baseless, meriting $150,000 in fees for the portion of the work done on the bad faith claims.
McCarter’s Christopher Mayer and Pam Moore, who handled the original case, successfully sought out the fee award for the plaintiff’s baseless claims.
