Do you have employees who work in a state that requires leave time or paid time off for voting? Companies may also have remote employees in different states that mandate employers provide paid leave time for voting. Federal law does not regulate this issue and some states have put requirements on employers to provide allowances for employees to vote during work hours. The allowances span from providing an employee with hours of paid time to vote, some with conditions of advance notice, and some requiring proof that the employee voted. It is important to know which states require employers to provide this benefit to their employees. For more information, contact Stephanie Olivo.
