McCarter & English announced today that Jason D. Navarino has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate Practice Group, enhancing the firm’s capabilities in mergers and acquisitions and complex tax matters. He joins from Riker Danzig, where he served as Chair of the firm’s Tax and Corporate practice groups.
“Jason’s combination of M&A and advanced tax experience makes him an outstanding addition to our team,” said Theodore Grannatt, Chair of McCarter’s Corporate Practice Group. “His proven track record, coupled with his experience in navigating complex transactions and providing strategic tax insight magnifies our commitment and strengthens our ability in serving sophisticated clients in high-value, complex deals.”
Navarino’s practice focuses on middle-market transactions, where he represents clients on both buy-and sell-side matters across a broad range of industries, including technology, insurance, media, manufacturing, real estate, fintech, blockchain, and cannabis. He maintains an active cross-border practice, advising US clients investing abroad and inbound investors from a wide range of international markets.
Navarino also counsels nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations with respect to their formation, ongoing compliance, and transactions.
“McCarter’s depth across key practice areas will allow me to deliver more comprehensive solutions and connect clients with colleagues who offer a broad range of sophisticated capabilities,” said Navarino. “I’m also excited to be reunited with former colleagues and to continue growing my practice as part of such a collaborative and well-rounded team.”
Navarino is active in the legal and business community, serving as Chair of the Business Taxation Committee and the International Taxation Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is a member of the Legal, Wealth, and Tax Advisory Committee of the Community Foundation of New Jersey, and he also serves on the Board of Directors of LEO Impact Fund, Inc. (formerly the Microlumbia Impact Fund), an organization run by Columbia Business School students that invests philanthropic capital in high-impact, early-stage social enterprises.
Navarino earned his LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law, and his JD from Yale Law School. He earned his AB from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs summa cum laude.
