McCarter is strengthening the firm’s presence in Miami with the addition of a pair of real estate partners—Manuel Fernandez and Alberto Delgado—joining from a boutique where they led the real estate transactions team. Fernandez has more than 30 years of experience in real estate law and has worked on some of the largest deals in Florida, such as representing the buyer in the $517 million purchase of the Southeast Financial Center in Miami. Delgado has practiced for more than 20 years representing clients in complex retail, office, industrial, residential, and mixed-use real estate transactions. Fernandez and Delgado have worked together for most of the past 20 years, having met at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, where Fernandez was managing partner of its Miami office at the time.
Fernandez said of his practice: “I’ve been lucky because it’s been a very diverse practice where I represent some lenders, I represent institutional investors in terms of acquiring properties, I represent developers, I’ve done a good amount of joint venture work and I’ve always enjoyed doing stuff that was interesting and was not just the run in the mill deals that everybody did.” And on joining McCarter, Fernandez said “a lot of what McCarter was offering to us really resonated in terms of an opportunity that would allow us to capitalize more in terms of our contacts in the Northeast and also to take advantage of having a broader footprint and a firm that was making the kinds of investments that are necessary in terms of infrastructure and people.”
On having Fernandez and Delgado join the firm, McCarter managing partner Joe Boccassini said, “We are delighted to welcome Manny, Albert, and their skilled team to our real estate practice. The addition of Manny and Albert underscores our commitment to growing our national real estate practice and our Miami presence.”
