Following the firm’s recognition as the 2025 Pro Bono Partnership Award winner by the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC), Joseph Cherico and Jessica Bowman spoke with Law360 Pulse about how McCarter’s enduring partnership with the organization continues to make a meaningful difference for veterans in need. Through this collaboration, the firm contributes more than 200 hours annually to pro bono matters and has donated over $1 million in billable hours to the organization to date.
Speaking about the success the organizations have shared, McCarter partner and CVLC board member Joe Cherico said, “It’s a testament to not just any one person, but the commitment on behalf of the lawyers in both of our Connecticut offices to try and give back to veterans. This organization makes it so easy to do that. It’s really a well-run organization.”
Associate Jessica Bowman echoed that sentiment, describing how her CVLC work has shaped her perspective as an attorney: “For us to be able to help them navigate through what is a difficult time in their lives is something that, for me, as the oath that I took as an attorney, is what it’s all about.”
