McCarter & English Hosts US Department of Commerce’s Doing Business in Vietnam

7.11.2016

McCarter & English, LLP
100 Mulberry St., Four Gateway Center
Newark, NJ 07102

McCarter & English Hosts US Department of Commerce’s Doing Business in Vietnam Event on Monday, July 11 at 10:00 AM in our Newark office.

Please join our U.S. Commercial Service Principal Commercial Officer visiting from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for a presentation and discussion for companies looking to increase sales to this country.

Top export sectors to Vietnam include:
• Chemicals
• Aircraft
• Food
• Industrial Machinery
• Computers & Electronics
• Plastics & Rubber Products
• Road Tractors & Vehicles
• Electrical Equipment
• Metal

Reasons why NJ companies should consider exporting to Vietnam:
• Strong GDP growth anticipated for next 35 years (second in the world).
• Demographics for growth – Vietnam has the fastest-growing middle and affluent class in the region and consumers are among the most optimistic in the world.
• Real income increasing, as is receptivity to U.S. products and services.
• Large population of over 90 million consumers.
• Political stability – especially in this region.

Experienced and Distinguished Presenter:
• Elizabeth (Betsy) Shieh

Ms. Shieh is Principal Commercial Officer of the U.S. Commercial Service in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and has served there since the summer of 2015. Her office focuses on developing sales opportunities for U.S. companies selling the products and services that serve the infrastructure needs of Vietnam’s aviation, energy, healthcare, and ICT needs.

Prior to Vietnam, Betsy served three consecutive tours in Beijing, China, primarily covering environmental technologies and energy. Betsy started her Foreign Service career in 2005 when she served a two year term in the Westchester, New York Export Assistance Center.

Prior to joining the Commercial Service, she was the Executive Director of NEXCO, a private, non-profit international business association in New York City. Betsy has served as Executive Director of the Hudson Valley World Trade Center and as product manager at XPORT, the Port Authority of NY and NJ’s trading company.

Betsy has a Master’s Degree in International Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages, both from New York University.
