McCarter & English today announced that Diana C. Manning has joined the firm as a partner in its Newark office, bringing significant experience in complex commercial litigation, appellate advocacy, and legal ethics. She joins from Bressler, Amery & Ross, where she was pivotal in building the firm’s litigation and legal ethics practice and served as the firm’s managing principal and chair of its Business and Commercial Litigation group.

Manning is a trial and appellate attorney with more than 30 years of experience representing clients in complex, sophisticated commercial litigation and counseling on high-stakes attorney ethics and professional responsibility matters. Her practice focuses on business and commercial disputes, appellate advocacy, professional liability, and legal malpractice, including counseling lawyers, law firms, and legal departments on ethical compliance, risk management, and disciplinary matters. She is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney and has argued matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts, including nine arguments before the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Manning is highly regarded in the New Jersey legal community, and has held numerous leadership positions in professional organizations. She currently serves as the Second Vice President of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is preparing to serve as its President in 2028. She has served on and chaired ethics committees appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, including the District XA Ethics Committee, and is a frequent author and speaker on topics involving attorney ethics, professionalism, and litigation strategy. She authored the New Jersey chapter on legal malpractice for The Law of Lawyer’s Liability: Fifty-State Survey of Legal Malpractice, ABA/First Chair Press.

Manning earned her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and her B.A. in economics and political science from Rutgers College, Rutgers University.
