During an interview with Law360, Michael Puzyk discusses the plan that New Jersey intends to introduce to resolve tax disputes, “I think that there are a number of corporation business tax and sales and use tax issues that may be able to be resolved in the mediation format more effectively than via the currently available format.” The New Jersey Division of Taxation aims to launch a pilot program where a mediator will help both parties understand advantages and disadvantages of coming to a settlement. This free program is expected to lighten the case load at its conference and appeals branch. Puzyk adds, “I think it’s very good for the taxpayer to have a new format in which to resolve tax disputes.”
