If you are in federal contracting, you have almost certainly heard of joint venturing and, relatedly, of Mentor-Protégé relationships. When used correctly, these strategies can greatly increase both large and small businesses’ contract/subcontract opportunities, and give revenue a boost. However, it is harder than it seems to use these strategies correctly, without running afoul of the small business regulations and negatively impacting your company. If you want to succeed, you have to understand the complex web of rules and regulations that are in place, and learn how to identify and avoid common pitfalls. In this webinar, experienced government contracting attorney Maria Panichelli teaches attendees how to do just that. Maria starts off with a primer on joint venture affiliation, and how the mentor protégé program became a de facto prerequisite to many joint ventures. Maria then provides a detailed overview of the SBA mentor protégé program, including recent changes in the regulations, and common contractor mistakes. Finally, she turns to the requirements for mentor-protégé joint ventures, including JV agreement obligations, work-share and protégé performance percentages, as well as ongoing reporting requirements. Attendees will leave ready to start their mentor protégé journey, armed with the tools they need to do it correctly.
