Not all supervision is done by partners/higher-ups. New lawyers will work on assignments under the supervision of more senior attorneys. Additionally, as new lawyers progress through their careers, they eventually will become senior attorneys and transition into a supervisor role. The dynamic between a senior attorney and a newer attorney is different from that of a partner and a newer attorney, and making the transition to supervising peers can be tricky.
