Howard Berkower spoke to Law360 about the future of the private equity market, predicting “big transactions involving carveouts” in 2023 and increased activity in the financial services and energy fields, along with a maintained interest in technology. He noted that “given the sheer size of the Asian market, the fact that it is in a relatively earlier stage than Europe and North America — despite a lot of the political issues dealing with China, Taiwan and North Korea — I do think that that is going to be a continuing long trend going forward.” He also explained that the Asian market is growing and emerging more than the established North American and European markets, and that he thinks it will continue to play a role in private equity as a sort of “long-term macro trend.”
