After hundreds of gatecrashers breached security during a Jay-Z concert at Yankee Stadium, questions have emerged about whether the response was typical and how venues can best prepare for similar security breaches.
During “Extra Innings,” the third night of the sold-out show, security personnel and law enforcement worked to manage the situation safely after the breach forced a four-hour shutdown.
Taylor Collins spoke with Billboard about the incident, noting that conducting a risk assessment involving the venue, promoter, artist team, and local public safety officials before a large-scale event is critical to preparing for situations like this.
“That planning should translate into a coordinated security plan that includes clear communication with fans, visible signage, crowd management measures, trained supervisors at key entry points and real-time monitoring leading up to and during the event,” she said.
