Alan Lipkind is experienced in litigation, arbitration, and mediation processes, representing his clients’ interests in court and alternative dispute resolution proceedings as well as before local permitting boards.
Alan’s clients often face disputes regarding real property including landlord/tenant disagreements, disputes between buyers and sellers of real estate, and disputes between the owners of abutting properties. Alan is experienced in matters concerning property boundaries, property uses, waterfront legal concerns, including allocation of beach accretions and Chapter 91 issues, adverse possession claims, and easements. He also handles disputes regarding construction and zoning matters, and he has been a member of his local zoning board of appeals for more than 20 years.
Alan has extensive experience in condominium law, serving as a thought leader in an increasingly important area in real estate. Condominium construction in the United States boomed in the 1980s, and many of those structures now face maintenance issues, among other complications. Alan regularly represents condominium associations, unit owners, and property managers, both in litigation and on governance issues.
Real estate disputes are not often black and white. Alan leverages his three-plus decades of practice and sound judgment to navigate the gray areas of his clients’ issues, allowing his clients to focus on their businesses and day-to-day lives. “My clients are typically very successful in whatever endeavors they may be pursuing; they need to stay focused on those endeavors as opposed to dedicating their full-time focus to getting past whatever the issue at hand may be.”
Outside of work, Alan uses his expertise to assist non-profit organizations that face matters related to his field. Alan serves on the Board Compliance and Risk Management Committee of Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Boston, where he served on the Board of Directors for many years. Alan has also served on the Board of Advisors of the Huntington Avenue YMCA.
