Donald Vaughan focuses his practice on the representation of parties, including non-profits, in commercial office and retail leases and subleases. He also counsels lenders and borrowers in permanent, construction and leasehold financing transactions, many involving tax credits and public or quasi-public financing sources to support the development of affordable housing.
Donald’s experience includes commercial/investment real estate sales, acquisitions and like-kind exchanges; commercial mortgage-backed securities transactions; residential real estate sales, acquisitions and development; and estate planning and administration, primarily with real estate as a main focus. Donald has also successfully overseen several complex and highly visible development projects and foreclosure actions.
Donald’s practice began in the private wealth/trusts and estates area, where he soon developed an affinity for real estate as a major holding of many of the clients with whom he worked. His practice then became primarily real estate focused. Over the past two decades, Donald’s focus increasingly has returned to the private wealth area, with a number of McCarter clients benefiting from his extensive knowledge and skill.
