Gabriel Slamovits represents lenders, financial institutions, secured and unsecured creditors, businesses, and individuals in state and federal court proceedings and handles commercial foreclosures, creditors’ rights, distressed debt, and bankruptcy matters.
Gabriel returns to private practice after clerking for the Hon. Chief Justice Stuart J. Rabner of the Supreme Court of New Jersey and for the Hon. Vera M. Scanlon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He also served as special counsel with the Office of the General Counsel for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Gabriel previously worked with the bankruptcy, litigation and corporate practices of a New York City-based AmLaw 100 firm.
Throughout his career, Gabriel has dedicated significant time to pro bono matters, including helping clients in immigration, U visa and asylum cases, and working to obtain the removal of clients wrongfully listed on the New York State Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect. He has also represented clients in obtaining disability accommodations on high-stakes standardized testing, including professional licensing exams.
During law school, Gabriel was honored with the Vanderbilt Medal (an award for leadership and vision and outstanding contributions to New York University School of Law and to student, community and public service organizations), and was awarded two merit scholarships: the Dean’s Scholarship and the Virginia and Emile Zola Berman Scholarship.
Gabriel’s published writings include “United States, ex. rel. Kimberly Evans v. Curesitall, LLC,” a moot court problem on the False Claims Act published in the NYU Law Moot Court Casebook and an article on “Cadaver Donations in the Jewish Legal System” published in the Rutgers Journal of Law & Religion.
