Drawing on more than four decades of experience and a background spanning law, accounting, and finance, Jay helps clients navigate the intersection of their personal wealth, family interests, and business objectives. As a member of the firm’s Trusts, Estates & Private Clients group, he develops comprehensive plans that minimize tax exposure and facilitate the efficient transfer of wealth and privately held businesses to future generations, working closely with clients to ensure those plans reflect their long-term goals and preserve family and organizational legacies.
In addition to estate and gift tax planning, Jay counsels clients on business law, commercial real estate, asset protection, and trust and estate administration. His clients include multigenerational families and family businesses, owners of closely held companies and professional practices, executives, and nonprofit organizations.
He also advises business owners on succession and exit planning as an integral part of their broader estate plans, helping them evaluate options for transitioning ownership, maximizing business value, aligning business and personal financial goals, and preparing for the next chapter of their personal and professional lives. Clients frequently name him trustee or co-trustee of the trusts they establish, reflecting the confidence they place in his judgment, integrity, and long-term stewardship.
A former CPA and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) through the Exit Planning Institute, Jay has served on the Leadership Committee of the Institute’s New England Chapter, combining sophisticated tax planning with practical business strategies.
Jay has held numerous leadership positions in professional and civic organizations, including serving as president of the New England Region of the American Association of Attorneys and CPAs, the Jewish National Fund’s New England Region, and the Sharon Rotary Club. He also served as an adjunct professor at New England Law Boston and taught advanced estate planning and estate and gift taxation at Northeastern University School of Law.
