Wei Song focuses his practice on patent prosecution, global portfolio strategy and management, freedom to operate (FTO) assessments, and infringement analysis. He has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications in fields including chemistry, polymer chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and nano-material science.
Wei assists universities, startups, and major pharmaceutical corporations in the projects related to pharmaceutical compounds, drug formulations, natural products, diagnosis and treatment for various disorders, novel polymers, magnetic nanoparticles, and imaging reagents. In addition to counseling and prosecution, he also has experience in patent interference proceedings.
Prior to joining the firm, Wei was an associate at a Boston patent boutique law firm, an associate at the Intellectual Property Law Clinic, University of Connecticut School of Law, and an intern at Washington, DC, law firm. He also worked for six years at Pfizer Global Research and Development, where he was engaged in different aspects of developing diabetic drugs. His clients also benefit from his experience in the industry as a research scientist.
