Dr. Bowles focuses her practice on patent prosecution in the fields of physics, software, electrical and mechanical engineering and medical devices.

Dr. Bowles has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in a broad range of fields, including semiconductor processing and devices, optical systems, software, sports equipment, mechanical systems, medical devices, and surgical tools and medical implants. She also conducted patentability and freedom-to-operate studies for energy generation plants, sports equipment and medical devices.

Dr. Bowles has also supported litigation in the International Trade Commission addressing infringement of patents covering machine vision and microelectromechanical devices.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Bowles was an Associate at Proskauer Rose, LLP, a patent agent at Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, PC, and a technology specialist at Lahive & Cockfield, LLP. Before entering the legal profession, her technical experience focused on applied physics and materials science.

Dr. Bowles received a Ph.D. from Harvard University's physics department for her work quantifying thermo-mechanical properties of organic thin films under the supervision of Professor Frans Spaepen. While in graduate school, Anita also conducted research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, exploring high energy density materials under ultrahigh pressure. As an undergraduate at the University of Colorado at Boulder, she researched particle identification cuts for data produced in high energy particle accelerator experiments.
