Ron Leibman, chair of McCarter’s Transportation, Logistics & Supply Chain Management Practice, speaks with NJ Spotlight News in an on-air interview regarding the dockworkers’ suspended strike. The three-day strike, which led back ups at US ports, is now on hold following a tentative agreement. With an election just five weeks away, Ron said you can’t ignore the timing of the strike.
“Certainly I’ve got to praise the administration for getting them to talk to each other again, that was a big win,” Ron said. “I’ve got to give them that. But they still ended up, if they had been talking, where they would’ve been anyway. I question how they did this where they basically took sides. I believe that was potentially political too, because you want union votes. So that particular tactic isn’t something I would’ve done. But at the end of the day, if the result justifies the means, then they did a good job.”
