McCarter hosted the 13th Annual Princeton Prize in Race Relations of Northern New Jersey, an awards program to promote understanding and respect among different races by recognizing high-school-age students whose efforts have had positive effect on race relations in their schools or communities. Jazmine Shaw, a junior at David Brearley High School in Kenilworth, NJ, was this year’s first prize winner. Jazmine wrote, “Together, we are making the school a more comfortable and inclusive place for students of color. Together, we will create our revolution.” Other Certificate of Accomplishment Honorees include: Andre Ferreira of Science Park High School, Newark; Madison Hobbs, Sofia Kwon, and Tyler Newman of Kent Place School, Summit; and Matthew Skolar of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, Scotch Plains.
