Dr. Afzal Chowdhury has more than 30 years of experience as a patent professional. His comprehensive patent practice includes patentability analysis, due diligence, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analysis. Afzal’s scientific focus includes the areas of biomedical devices, peptide chemistry, medical diagnostics, immuno-diagnostics, PCR technology, clinical trials including HIV diagnostic products.
Afzal also performs intellectual property litigation related work including invalidity analysis, preparation of request for admission, interrogatories, responses, review of discovery and production documents, deposition preparations, preparation of witnesses and experts, infringement analysis, analysis of inequitable conduct issues, and the review and analysis of patent file histories.
Afzal previously worked as a biotechnology intellectual property consultant and scientific advisor where he directed manufacturing start-up, process development, on-going product development and clinical trials. In addition, Afzal has conducted research directed to various aspects of infectious diseases including microbiology, immunology and molecular biology of bacterial and viral pathogens. He has authored and co-authored in many scientific research publications and patented many of his inventions in the field of biomedical research.
