Jessica Bowman focuses her practice on a broad range of complex civil and commercial litigation and business matters, representing public and private companies in US state and federal courts. Her experience includes matters related to trust and estate administration, charitable funds issues, unfair competition and other consumer protection claims, sophisticated commercial contract disputes, partnership and business disputes, successor liability, business torts, pharmaceutical products liability, and real estate transactions. Jessica has also represented companies and individuals through all stages of SEC investigations for violations of federal securities laws, pursued claims against motor carriers and freight forwarders under the Carmack Amendment, and confirmed international arbitration awards under the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
Jessica is active in both state and federal courts and has served on the trial team for matters involving violations of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act, claims of fraud, misrepresentation, unfair and deceptive conduct, and breach of contract. Her experience includes serving as the lead associate in successfully dismissing claims against multiple trustees in federal court for breach of contract, rescission, equitable accounting, and preliminary and permanent injunction. She is also active in the Connecticut Probate Courts and has experience in cy pres and approximation actions, as well. Jessica’s litigation practice further extends through her appellate work in both appellate courts and federal circuit courts, where she analyzes trial issues for appeal, drafts appellate briefs, and appears for oral argument.
In addition to her litigation experience, Jessica is also committed to pro bono service and has provided hundreds of hours to pro bono clients during her career, focusing on veterans and housing issues and is a Department of Veterans Affairs Accredited Attorney. She was recently successful in advocating for a veteran at the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
Prior to joining McCarter as an associate in 2018, Jessica was a summer associate and legal intern at the firm. She also graduated summa cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she served as the Research & Symposium Editor of the Quinnipiac Law Review. While in law school, she was an active member of the mock trial competition team, taking first place in the Quinnipiac University School of Law 2017 Mock Trial Intramural.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys volunteering, skiing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
