Hotel management company—Property tax appeals

Represented a hotel management company on appeals that were filed on 5 hotel properties in the Southeast. After being denied by the assessor any opportunity to discuss settlement, Lee Holtzman and Joe Norcia traveled Southeast to try each respective appeal along with their appraisal expert and client. After multiple days of hearings, Lee and Joe accomplished substantial reductions for each hotel and gained access to several other properties through and introduction to the local hotel networking group.

Energy company—Tax appeals

After prolonged settlement discussions with local tax assessors in the Tri-State, Lee Holtzman, Joe Norcia, and Olga Holik forced these appeals into mediation before the Tax Court. As a result of their efforts for these oil and gas terminal properties, the client realized tax savings of over $2 million. 

Country club—Tax appeals

Appeals had been filed on a private country club dating back to the pandemic. Multiple corona virus related delays led to many years of appeal being left to value consideration before the Tax Court. Rising residential land values and booming development in the area made this a difficult appeal to settle. The client received over $1.6 million of tax savings.
