As a registered nurse in the state of Indiana, Julia Hawkins assists attorneys by collecting, reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing medical records and other pertinent medical and legal documents. She researches and integrates medical literature as it relates to medical facts and issues and educates attorneys regarding medical issues. During the discovery phase of litigation, Julia assists clients and attorneys with preparation of discovery requests. She also assists with trial preparation, including preparation of medical record and other trial exhibits.
Before she began working as a legal nurse consultant, Julia had an established nursing career spanning 30 years, with her primary area of clinical experience focused on peri-operative nursing. She has also been a faculty member at Purdue University and Indiana University-Kokomo as an instructor of nursing with lecture and clinical responsibilities for Fundamentals of Nursing, Child Health Nursing, and Medical-Surgical Nursing.
