Private employers must comply with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act’s safety and health standards, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Public employers in Connecticut must comply with the safety and health standards under the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Act, administered by the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA). Tiffany Hubbard provided an overview of OSHA and facilitated a discussion with representatives from OSHA and CONN-OSHA concerning the inspection process and the responsibilities of both private and public sector employers during the Annual Advanced Labor and Employment Law Symposium, presented by the Connecticut Bar Association.
