Mario S. Russo focuses his practice in complex commercial litigation with a primary emphasis on insurance coverage litigation and counseling. He represents policyholder clients, including Fortune 500 companies, seeking coverage for liabilities related to asbestos, environmental, bodily injury, and property damage, including flood, claims. He also represents and advises clients on issues arising from professional liability, directors and officers, errors and omissions, and workers compensation insurance policies.
Mario handles insurance coverage matters arising in both state and federal court and represents clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings. He regularly helps policyholder clients assess their potential risks, analyze new insurance products, and consider the adequacy of their existing insurance programs. He has also co-authored several articles on cutting-edge insurance coverage issues, which have appeared in various professional publications, and contributed to two leading insurance law treatises.
Committed to public service, Mario is actively involved in the Firm’s pro bono efforts. He is currently assisting individual policyholders whose homes suffered catastrophic loss during Superstorm Sandy with their insurance coverage claims and disputes.
While in law school, Mario served as senior articles editor of the Seton Hall Circuit Review and was awarded the Best Brief Award in Appellate Advocacy. Prior to and while attending law school, he worked at McCarter & English as a paralegal and law clerk and was assigned to numerous complex litigation matters, including two multiparty, multimillion-dollar insurance coverage trials.
