Alexa Derkasch focuses her practice on bankruptcy, creditor rights, real estate, and commercial litigation. She represents financial institutions in disputes brought by consumers, including those concerning consumer mortgage lending, servicing, and consumer credit, as well as major title companies in real property, land title, and title insurance litigation.
Working alongside the efforts of The Veterans Consortium, Alexa provides pro bono representation in federal venues for veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors who have been denied care, benefits, or compensation earned from military service. She’s also an assisting attorney in the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) Pro Se Divorce Clinic as well as for the Immigration Advocates Network, specifically for the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark (CCAN) Pro Se Asylum Clinic.
Alexa is a registered patent attorney with significant experience in patent application preparation and prosecution, due diligence, and licensing. For nearly a decade before practicing litigation, Alexa represented internationally recognized pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, focusing particularly on strategic patent portfolio development and management.
In her legal community, Alexa serves on the District VA Fee Arbitration Committee for Essex County, New Jersey.
