Jeff litigates and counsels clients in the areas of product liability, construction defect, business torts, personal injury and real property. He has managed all phases of litigation and trial in state and federal courts throughout the U.S., and has appeared in virtually every ADR forum. Jeff also has handled appeals, including cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and various federal and state appellate courts.
Jeff regularly defends product liability claims against manufacturers of consumer products, commercial and industrial equipment. He represents clients before the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in connection with product recalls and reporting activities, and has successfully negotiated with the CPSC to narrow the scope of several voluntary recalls. Jeff advises on the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, the Federal Hazardous Substances Act, and the Flammable Fabrics Act. He is a leading expert on the CPSC’s consumer safety complaint database—www.SaferProducts.gov. He also advises on FTC regulations and warning, labeling, guarantee and warranty issues, and drafts warnings, warranties, guarantees, and product instructions for many makers of consumer products.
In his personal injury practice, Jeff defends manufacturers of consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and asbestos-containing products in cases throughout the country. He has handled matters involving alleged catastrophic injuries, wrongful death and survivorship claims. Jeff practices throughout New England and has managed mass tort litigation nationwide.
On behalf of construction industry clients, Jeff has prosecuted and defended high-stakes claims involving alleged construction defect, construction accidents and contractual disputes. In the real property context, he has prosecuted commercial and complex residential foreclosure actions on behalf of financial institutions and other entities.
