Geoffrey Rosamond is a skilled trial lawyer with over 20 years of experience litigating complex commercial and criminal defense cases.

Geoffrey Rosamond’s practice covers criminal defense and commercial litigation in federal and state court, where he represents corporations and individuals in a broad array of civil, criminal and regulatory proceedings and investigations. He has extensive experience handling complex commercial litigation involving issues including breach of contract, securities fraud, RICO, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with contract and conversion.

Corporate and individual clients seek his assistance and experience as a former prosecutor with all aspects of the federal and state criminal process, from grand jury investigations through trial and responding to search warrants, subpoenas, and requests for information. Geoffrey regularly achieves favorable dispositions of regulatory and criminal cases brought by the federal and state governments through negotiation or trial.

He also counsels and assists corporations, whether in regulated or non-regulated industries, with the implementation of effective corporate compliance and ethics programs to prevent and detect unlawful conduct before it becomes a more serious problem. He often conducts internal investigations to mitigate the impact of detected misconduct and minimize the corporation’s exposure to civil and criminal punishment.

Geoffrey is a dedicated pro bono advocate, having served as Chairman of McCarter’s Pro Bono Committee and as a current member of Volunteer Lawyers for Justice’s Board of Trustees. The New Jersey State Bar Association honored him with the 2023 Champion of Justice Award for his exemplary pro bono service for the past 20 years to those in need. Geoffrey is the 2017 recipient of the Golden Sun Award, presented by the Women Center’s Dream Catcher program for his groundbreaking work combatting human trafficking and for arguing the first successful vacatur case for a trafficking victim in New Jersey. The Essex County Bar Association awarded him the 2012 Bernard J. Kuttner Pro Bono Service Award for his extensive criminal reentry work.

Prior to joining the Firm, he served as an Assistant Prosecutor with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, where he handled a variety of criminal prosecutions.

Successfully defended a senior executive of a large financial institution in a three month jury trial in the federal District Court in Delaware and on appeal at the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, resulting in a judgment of acquittal of 16 counts and dismissal of the remaining 2 counts by the United States Attorney’s Office. Following the trial, the SEC brought a separate suit against the client, which was settled on terms favorable to the client.

Defended a large regional banking and financial services provider against an action brought by a state regulator regarding the operation of coin-counting machines.

Assisted a leading cardiac care hospital with a nationwide investigation by the Department of Justice of potential Medicare and Medicaid overbilling for implantation of pacemaker/defibrillator devices.

Defended numerous accountants, physicians, and other licensed professionals in connection with federal and state criminal charges and related regulatory proceedings.

Conducted internal investigations for a public biopharmaceutical company, an international insurance brokerage firm, and a national home builder involving allegations of insider trading, bribery, bid-rigging, and embezzlement.

Represented a central figure charged with bribing several United States public officials during the coalition to Iraq.

Defended a large pediatric practice and the principal of a home health care agency in separate criminal investigations by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office involving allegations of Medicare and Medicaid overbilling.

Represented global electronics manufacturer in connection with fraud investigation and related litigation brought to recover funds stolen from client.

Represented a leading commercial bank in a joint investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and New Jersey Attorney General’s Office into an alleged billion-dollar money laundering scheme.

Successfully challenged the denial by the State Board of Nursing to accredit a New Jersey-based nursing school and obtained a unanimous reversal of the Board’s decision before the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Assisted NFL players in state criminal proceedings and related disciplinary proceedings with the NFL.
